About The Event

As the final Action Learning Project (ALP) of the SGLN Fellowship 2025, Inclusive Spaces, Shared Capitals, Sustainable Futures brought SGLN Fellows together for a meaningful evening of reflection, connection, and shared purpose — set against the serene backdrop of the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree.

Conceptualised and led by SGLN Fellows Deven Lim, Kellie Chua, Lim Wee Kee, Sheryl Ng, Tahira Allapitchay, and Tan Chee Keong, the ALP was co-curated with Ho Ren Yung, Deputy CEO of the Banyan Group, who also joined as guest speaker. Her insights into Banyan Group’s purpose-driven approach to hospitality — grounded in community empowerment and environmental stewardship — framed the evening’s exploration of social sustainability in leadership and business.

Before designing the session, the project team embarked on their own learning journey to define what social sustainability meant to them. Through weeks of research and dialogue, they developed the S.P.A.C.E. framework, encapsulating five core pillars:

  • Social Inclusion & Belonging – ensuring everyone feels accepted and valued
  • Participation & Governance – enabling communities to have a meaningful voice
  • Access & Well-being – guaranteeing fair access to basic needs and opportunities
  • Community & Cultural Vitality – celebrating shared heritage and identity
  • Equity & Empathy – building systems that are fair and compassionate

During the session, Fellows guided us through experiential learning activities inspired by these pillars, encouraging participants to reflect on how inclusion, empathy, and shared responsibility can take root in their own organisations. The evening culminated in a panel reflection and group dialogue, followed by networking and cocktails overlooking the Upper Seletar Reservoir — a fitting close to a transformative Fellowship journey.

This ALP event was made possible through the generous support of Lockton.
