On July 15, 2024, SGLN had the honour of hosting an intimate fireside chat with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in conjunction with SGLN’s 2nd Anniversary.

Our 60 SGLN Fellows, their mentors, and our SGLN ambassadors had the amazing opportunity to hear from and engage in a lively discussion with President Tharman.

The chat unpacked the keys to effective global leadership:

• It isn’t just about wielding logic; exceptional leaders cultivate reasonableness, open-mindedness, and curiosity. Understanding diverse perspectives is crucial, the “where,” “who,” “what,” and “why” behind people’s motivations on a global scale.
• With this also comes the power of collective leadership. By embracing diverse thinking, global leaders can craft stronger solutions and achieve a deeper sense of purpose.
• Having a long-term vision is also crucial. Examining a greater purpose allows leaders to prioritise long-term benefits over short-term gains, ensuring decisions serve the collective good on a global scale.

This exchange empowers us to envision a future where global leaders are both empathetic and strategic, driven by a shared vision of prosperity for all.
