The SGLN Global Expeditions are curated international experiences designed to provide leaders with first-hand exposure to best-in-class global practices, across geographies and sectors.
Each year, participants are taken to different regions of the world to learn directly from pioneering organisations and communities. These immersive journeys are a core pillar of SGLN’s mission, to develop a new generation of globally competent, future-ready leaders, capable of navigating complexity and leading with purpose across diverse environments.
In our inaugural run in 2026, we are proud to partner with Stewardship Asia Centre (SAC) for a transformative five-day journey in Doi Tung, Thailand, to experience what steward leadership can achieve.

Steward Leadership Impact: Local Action, Global Growth
Destination: Doi Tung Development Project, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand
We are living in a world of contrasts. Technological advancements have brought about incredible innovations, yet we are also grappling with global recessions, wars, socio-political strife, severe resource/income inequality, and massive environmental degradation. Can businesses thrive without addressing the existential crisis facing our planet? Absolutely not. But can they drive superior shareholder returns by tackling these very challenges? Absolutely yes.
However, to address today’s challenges and achieve profitable growth by doing so, traditional models of leadership will need to be upgraded to steward leadership – the ability to create a win-win-win future for stakeholders, society, and the environment.
Get ready for a transformative 5-day journey in Doi Tung, an eye-opening experience of what steward leadership can achieve. Experience participatory workshops and interact with the local community to learn how businesses can pioneer innovative approaches to create profitable solutions to today’s existential challenges.
About the Doi Tung Development Project (DTDP)
The Doi Tung Development Project, initiated by Mae Fah Luang Foundation, focuses on sustainable development in Chiang Rai, Thailand. It combats poverty, opium cultivation, and deforestation through eco-friendly agriculture, handicrafts, education, and healthcare. Empowering local communities, the project promotes self-reliance, preserves culture, and ensures environmental conservation for long-term prosperity.
About the Mae Fah Luang Foundation (MFLF)
Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage is a Thai non-profit organisation that works to create new opportunities for people to emerge from the vicious cycle of poverty, turn away from illicit livelihoods such as the cultivation of poppy for opium, and build new lives in harmony with their environment, by “helping the people to help themselves.” The holistic and integrated area-based approach which puts the local community at the centre of its own development process, has resulted in significant improvement in the overall well-being of the community — economically, socially, and environmentally.
