Mentoring Programme Overview

The Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN) Community Mentoring Programme aspires to support the personal and professional growth of Singaporean leaders in our community. By doing so, we also hope to create meaningful 1:1 connections between network members, develop their social capital, and support their leadership journey.

Programme Outline

This is a flexible programme that will take place over 7 months. Mentors and mentees will meet at their own schedule, with check-ins taking place at the start and end of the mentorship.

Mentee Profile

We welcome mentees from all industries – we are looking for mentees who are willing to get out of their comfort zones, take reasonable risks and take responsibility for their own learnings and career paths. Effective mentees are open minded, motivated, and committed.

Ideally, you would have worked minimally for 3 years or more and are looking to be mentored in the following topic areas:

  • Display new perspectives and motivation to seek out regional/global job exposures to prepare for global leadership roles

  • Embrace a complex, ambiguous environment

  • Create and leverage networks and communicate with clarity and ‘heart’ for impact

  • Embrace and manage diversity by being sensitive to the cultural context and exercising cultural flexibility

Why be a Mentee?

Mentoring is a special partnership between two people based on commitment to the mentoring process, common goals/expectations of the partnership, and mutual trust and respect. It is a “get and give” experience with the goal of providing a rich and rewarding experience for both.

At SGLN, we believe that mentees need to take charge of their own personal/professional development with the benefit of a mentor who will share their personal experiences, insights, and perspectives. Other benefits can include:

  • Developing a sharper and more strategic focus on areas of professional development

  • Developing yourself as “learner” by adopting a continuous learning mindset with active investments in personal growth

  • Developing communication skills through personalised guidance across different interaction contexts

  • Cross-learning opportunities through sharing of experiences and insights that can enrich both mentee and mentor

The 2024 application window has closed. Stay tuned for information on the next window!

About the Singapore Leaders Network

  • LinkedIn

Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and managed by the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI), the Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN) aims to prepare Singaporeans for global leadership roles. We aspire to help advance the social capital of Singaporean corporate leaders who can support one another on their professional and personal leadership journeys - whilst cultivating a vibrant and robust community. This is achieved through activities that enable members to learn, lead, and link including through large scale in-person events, smaller business networking sessions on various topics of interest, our recently launched SGLN Fellowship, mentoring, an Ambassador programme, as well as an online LinkedIn community.
